Enforcement and engagement: On the community policing beat |
||
|
#TogetherForBedfordshire | Operation Foresight focuses on tackling crime, reducing anti social behaviour, and keeping our town centres safe. It’s at the heart of policing in the community, combining enforcement with engagement. This week the Luton Community Policing team was out, working with Luton CCTV operators, responding to incidents, and liaising with local businesses and members of the public. It’s a continuing process to protect and reassure which on Tuesday saw four arrests. The Dunstable and Houghton Regis team has also been busy, executing a warrant in Houghton Regis. They discovered cash and drugs worth around £100,000 and got a closure order on the property itself. We know how the drugs trade affects local communities and will continue the fight against these criminals. Meanwhile up at the Airport the Luton Airport Police Unit was called to reports that an unauthorised drone was being flown. Quickly on the scene they located the pilot, who’d been flying in a Flight Restriction Zone. He’s been reported for court action. A weapons sweep at Tiddenfoot Waterside Park by Leighton Buzzard officers drew a blank – but that’s good news, with regular checks keeping the area safe. Officers will be at Tiddenfoot Leisure Centre for an engagement on Thursday (12 March) between 3 and 5pm and would love to meet you if you’re around. Our North Beds Rural team, has been holding meetings with local parish councils. Concerns were raised about driving behaviour around horses. Please remember to pass slow and wide. Don’t forget you can report issues directly to us here: www.beds.police.uk/tua/tell-us-about or call 101. You can also report anonymously at Crimestoppers on 0800 555111. Information we receive from the community really helps the way we deploy resources and tackle crime.
